Dear parishioners at saint Frances Cabrini and Immaculate Conception parishes,
I hope and pray these lines find you well, considering what our country and indeed our world are going through these days as we face together the challenges of the current pandemic.
My name is Carlos Londoño and I am a transitional deacon for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. God willing, I will be ordained a priest on May 16th.
On March 20th I received the news that I will be assigned to saint Frances Cabrini and Immaculate Conception as your associate pastor under the mentorship of Fr. Nathan Reesman. These were exciting news, especially since I look forward to starting parish ministry as a priest soon and now, I have a concrete name and place to look forward to serving in the next couple of years.
I look forward to getting to know you personally as well! In the meantime, I wanted to share a bit about myself.
I am 28 years old and was born and raised in Colombia. I came to the United States to join Saint Francis de Sales Seminary in 2014.
About my family, my dad’s name is Heriberto and my mom’s name is Angela. I also have an older sister, Elizabeth. My sister has been to the United States twice. The first time she came it was September and she thought it was cold! Hehe.
Before joining Saint Francis de Sales Seminary, I studied philosophy for a year in Colombia and then for two and a half years in Barcelona, Spain. Between 2015 and 2016 I finished up my bachelor’s degree at Cardinal Stritch University and then began to study Theology at Sacred Heart Seminary and School of Theology in Hales Corners.
I was ordained a transitional deacon last year on April 27th.
As I mentioned before, I look forward to this summer when, God willing, I will begin my assignment at both Saint Frances Cabrini and Immaculate Conception. A few weeks before I learned about my assignment, I went to visit Fr. Andrew Infanger. It was Sunday, March 1st. I was with Fr. Andrew at the seminary for a couple of years and I wanted to visit and say hi to him. I served as a deacon at the 6 p.m. mass at Saint Frances Cabrini. As I look back and remember standing in the sanctuary that evening, I think to myself: who would have known that God had in his plans to have me serve as a priest one day in that same sanctuary! That was truly a providential visit.
As I share this news with you, I realize that these are times in which many people are suffering one way or the other from the pandemic that afflicts our world today. I wanted to assure you of my prayers, that they Lord may spare us from the worst of this illness and that He may keep you well, safe and healthy.
In Christ,
Deacon Carlos Londoño.
