Tell us about yourself...
I am originally from the central coast of California, from a town called Lompoc. When I was 22, I decided to leave California to go out and see the world. Thus, I moved to Fond du Lac and studied accounting at Marian University. Upon Graduation, I worked for two years with Michels Corporation in Sales and Local Taxes. Then, I joined Saint Francis de Sales Seminary, where I studied for six years.
I am honored to serve the people of God in West Bend. Joshua Chamberlain, the school teacher who became a decorated Union Officer in the civil war, said that to lead people one must care for his people and show courage. That is what I aim to do as your priest. I will love you and care for you with every ounce of strength that I have. Furthermore, with courage, I will strive to accompany you in any challenges that we may face. Through the cross of Christ and the tears of Mary, we shall conquer all things and attain the Resurrection.
Tell us your vocation story:
While reading the Sermons of St. Anthony I developed the desire to give myself entirely to God. I thought the best way to do this would be by joining a religious order, however, I was unable to find an order that I felt drawn too. After looking at religious orders I met with Father Luke who told me about the life of the diocesan priest. I feel that, although we do not take all three of the evangelical counsels, because of the duties and responsibilities that will be placed upon us, we have an opportunity to pour ourselves out completely in the service of God. In this way, we can respond to Christ who gave himself completely to us, so that we would give ourselves completely to him.
What is your favorite psalm verse and why?
Magnus Dominus et laudabilis nimis,
Et magnitudinis eius non est investigation.
"Great is the Lord and worthy of much praise,
whose grandeur is beyond understanding." (PS 145:3)
This verse demonstrates the inexpressible nature of God and our inability to fully grasp who he is. Nevertheless, as Augustine said, God encourages us to praise him because he made us for himself and our heart is restless until it rests in him.
Which saint should people ask to intercede for you?
St. Anthony of Padua.
